GOD GUO Taiwanese Hot Pot in Chiayi City is widely recognized for its authentic Taiwanese-style broths and thoughtfully prepared ingredients. Reviewers frequently highlight the rich, aromatic soups such as clam and chicken varieties, which offer distinct and satisfying flavors. The self-service buffet, featuring vegetables, drinks, and soft serve ice cream, is generally appreciated for its freshness and variety, though meat portions tend to be modest. The restaurant’s attention to detail, including practical touches like foam scoops, enhances the dining experience. While some find certain broths or condiments less intense in flavor, the overall reception reflects a popular and well-regarded hot pot destination noted for quality ingredients and a comfortable atmosphere.

Wangpin's hot pot restaurant has a minimum order of around 350 yuan. There's a buffet with vegetables, drinks, and ice cream. The meat portions are a bit small, with only a few slices. The vegetable buffet is decent, and the potatoes are surprisingly good. I personally think the vegetarian soup is better, and the peeled chili peppers are a bit less flavorful.

I must say that this hotpot is one of the most impressive hotpots I've had in Chiayi. This hotpot is very popular and I came here out of curiosity to try it out. The hotpot restaurant is located on the second floor and can be reached by elevator or stairs. Now I finally understand why it is so popular. I ordered the set meal for two: Meat Craving Main Meal 1299. This set meal comes with two soup bases, two fried eggs, three plates of meat (including pork and beef), each plate of meat is 150 grams, and dessert. Not only that, there is also a self-service bar where you can take a variety of hotpot ingredients such as meatballs, sausages, and a wide variety of vegetables. There is also unlimited rice, drinks and ice cream. What's even better is that there are a lot of toppings to choose from for ice cream. I think this is the first time I've seen such a rich variety of ice cream toppings in a hotpot restaurant, which is really surprising . The waiter who received me today was also very kind. He was very patient after knowing that I was not Taiwanese, and praised me for being able to understand and speak Chinese, and for explaining very clearly. Although the price here is slightly higher than other hot pot restaurants, I think it is worth it for the service and delicious taste. But please note that you must make a reservation before coming because it is really popular. I waited for more than an hour to get a seat today.

The clam and loofah chicken soup tastes very special, and the stone chicken soup is also good. They both have Taiwanese characteristics, and the ingredients are also of a certain standard. There is even a scoop for scooping foam on the table, which is super thoughtful. The black tea and soft serve ice cream at the self-service bar are not too sweet and taste very refreshing. If the soft serve ice cream is not sweet enough, you can add the black molasses next to it. What impressed me most was the service of the store clerk. They were very friendly and proactive. They would proactively ask if we wanted more soup or collect empty plates. This was done before we even pressed the service bell. It was a great experience.

I ordered the garlic clam chicken broth with marinated beef. The broth was rich and aromatic, with a distinct garlic flavor. The sweetness of the clams blended with the rich flavor of the chicken broth, creating a very smooth and delicious meal. The marinated beef was tender and ready to eat in seconds, retaining the juiciness of the meat. My girlfriend opted for the peeled chili chicken broth with beef and pork. The broth was mildly spicy with the distinct aroma of peeled chilies, making it even more delicious with each sip. We both upgraded to the scallion vermicelli. The noodles were smooth and the scallion aroma was a perfect complement. The dessert was also a pleasant surprise—the ice cream, available in soy milk and peanut flavors, was rich and not greasy, and paired with nostalgic airplane cookies, it added a touch of fun. Overall, the meal was on the strong side, but perfect for those who enjoy bold flavors. The care and attention paid to the restaurant, from the broth to the dessert, made this a Taiwanese hot pot restaurant that you'll want to return to.
